There are a number of Young People’s Health Clinics around the Somerset. These are held in:
youth centres
schools and colleges
GP surgeries
contraceptive and sexual health clinics
Most have the RESPECT Award which means they are friendly, confidential and non-judgemental.
All services are for both young men and young women. Most cover a range of health issues, some concentrate on sexual health (many clinics also provide free pregnancy testing).
Many clinics are supported by youth workers who can give you confidential advice and information on many subjects.
You do not need to make an appointment. Nor does it matter if you are under 16.
RESPECT Award for health services - the mark of a young person friendly service
The RESPECT Award is given to health services based on the service they offer to young people in respect to confidentiality, trust, friendliness of staff and suitability of information.
