Services to Young People
Connexions provides impartial careers information, advice and guidance for 13 – 19 year olds (up to and including the age of 24 for those with a learning difficulty or disability). You can get information, advice and guidance on topics such as:

If you want to talk about any other issues preventing you from achieving your goals we will try to help and where we can’t we will put you in touch with someone who can.

Consider Connexions somewhere to go when you need to speak to someone “in the know”.

Contact with a Careers and Skills adviser is confidential and information about a young person will only be shared with that young person's consent, unless there are special circumstances. In that case the circumstances will be discussed with the young person before the information is shared with anyone else.

Services to Schools & Colleges
Connexions, delivered by Connect South West, is contracted to deliver impartial and universal Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), on behalf of Somerset County Council until 2011. Service provision includes offering CEIAG to young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 for young people with learning disabilities and/or difficulties), in or out learning, together with an offer of support to schools and colleges in developing and delivering high quality Careers Education programmes.

Services to Parents, Guardians & Carers
The teenage years play an important role in future choices. Decisions, experiences and performance during these years can have a significant influence on an individual’s future. Connexions can provide impartial advice and information on career, education, training and employment choices.

Parents play an important role in these decisions and Connexions Somerset offers support to parents to help their teenager make choices about their future.

Services to Employers
Connexions, delivered by Connect South West, understands that employers contribute in numerous ways to the progression and development of young people. Connexions’ aim is to support employers.

How We Operate
Staff from Connexions visit schools, colleges, and work within the local community. They provide information, advice and guidance to young people through one to one advice and/or group work sessions.

We also offer a wide range of information through:

Connexions, delivered by Connect South West, is organised across Somerset in 2 area teams, each with Connexions Centres for young people to visit.
